“Building the character of students is the primary duty of a teacher. I urged teachers to pay special attention to all students, including girls, who are relatively shy or come from less privileged backgrounds,” President Murmu said.
A total of 45 teachers from schools and 21 from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) were honoured with the National Teachers Awards 2025 for their impeccable contribution to teaching and learning by President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of Teacher’s Day in New Delhi. The awardees were selected for their innovative pedagogy to inspire students and to shape young minds across the country.
The National Teachers Award winners include awardees from central boards, state schools, and institutions such as Atomic Energy Education Society, Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
The ministry of education has also honoured 21 teachers from higher educational institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics across the country for the National Awards to Teachers (NAT 2025). For the first time, NAT has been extended to cover exemplary faculty members in universities, institutes, and polytechnics, after being earlier restricted to school teachers.
