A total of 45 teachers from schools and 21 from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) were honoured with the National Teachers Awards 2025 for their impeccable contribution to teaching and learning by President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of Teacher’s Day in New Delhi. The awardees were selected for their innovative pedagogy to inspire students and to shape young minds across the country.

The National Teachers Award winners include awardees from central boards, state schools, and institutions such as Atomic Energy Education Society, Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The ministry of education has also honoured 21 teachers from higher educational institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics across the country for the National Awards to Teachers (NAT 2025). For the first time, NAT has been extended to cover exemplary faculty members in universities, institutes, and polytechnics, after being earlier restricted to school teachers.

She emphasised on giving importance to girls’ education and investing in the education of daughters. “We must make an invaluable investment in the development of our families, society, and nation,” the President added.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took to his X account and congratulated all the National Teachers Award recipients.

“On the occasion of ‘Guru Diwas’, heartfelt congratulations to Basant Kumar Rana and Tarun Kumar Dash from Odisha, who have been honored with the prestigious ‘National Teacher Award-2025’ by the Honorable President. The dedication and efforts of teachers like you in providing innovative education to students in remote areas like Malkangiri and Koraput are truly commendable. Your work will always inspire the education community,” the education minister wrote on his X account.
