Use NowNEWS DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued detailed instructions for NEET PG 2024 MD, MS, DNB post-MBBS and NBEMS diploma admissions 2024. Among the highlighted details are the refund policy for the annual course fee and the timelines for joining NBEMS training programmes.
According to the official notice, candidates who opt to switch from NBEMS seats to MD, MS seats in subsequent counselling rounds may be eligible for a refund of the annual course fee paid to NBEMS. However, this refund is contingent on the original NBEMS seat being carried forward to subsequent rounds of counselling.
NEET PG 2024: Fee refund for NBEMS seats
“If the candidate fails to join the seat or resign from the seat joined, and the seat could not be included in the subsequent round(s) of counselling, the annual course fee paid by the candidate shall be forfeited,” the NBEMS notice read.
NEET PG 2024 Counselling: Fee refund timeline
NBEMS has clarified that the refund process will only commence after the completion of all counseling rounds and typically takes 6 months to process. However, candidates should be prepared for delays, as the timeline could extend up to 9 to 10 months in some cases. NBEMS has advised candidates to avoid frequent follow-ups during this window to ensure smooth processing.

Reporting and documents verification
As per NBEMS, after paying the first-year annual course fee, candidates assigned NBEMS seats are required to report to their designated institutes or hospitals with the required original documents for verification, as per the prescribed eligibility criteria.
NEET PG 2024: Mandatory medical exam
Candidates will also undergo a medical examination conducted by the Medical Board of the NBEMS-accredited institute. Only those deemed medically fit will be permitted to join the course.
Furthermore, candidates have been asked to ensure that the hospital updates their joining status on the Intra-MCC portal within the specified time frame set by MCC. Failure by the hospital to update the status will result in the seat being marked as vacant and reassigned in the subsequent counseling round.
NBEMS training
The NBEMS notice strictly mentions that candidates allotted NBEMS seats are required to join their respective training programmes within the reporting window specified in the counseling schedule published by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Institutes and hospitals will not allow extensions beyond the specified dates without prior approval from NBEMS.
The official start date for NBEMS training is the candidate’s date of joining the programme. Those opting for seat upgradation in subsequent rounds will commence their training only upon joining the upgraded seat. In cases where no new seat is allocated during upgradation, training will begin on the date of joining the originally allotted NBEMS seat.
