NEET PG 2025 cut-offs dip across categories; more candidates to enter counselling race

NEET PG Qualifying Marks 2025: Around 2.42 lakh candidates got their NEET PG results 2025 for this year’s admission cycle for MD, MS, and PG diploma courses in medical colleges across the country. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has also announced the NEET PG cut-off 2025, showing a dip across all categories compared to 2023, but slightly higher than 2022.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG 2025) exam was held in a single shift on August 3, as per the Supreme Court directive. Even though the top court had recommended publishing the NEET PG answer key and raw marks for greater transparency in the conduct of the exam, the NBEMS has not made the answers available for aspirants.

A total of 2,42,493 candidates registered for the exam and their results were declared within 16 days after the exam. The NEET PG scorecard download link has also been hosted on the official website, natboard.edu.in. Out of which, 2,30,114 appeared and 1,28,116 have qualified for the counselling round.

NEET PG cut-off 2025

As per the NBE NEET PG qualifying criteria, general/ EWS category candidates with 276 marks at 50th percentile will be eligible. The NEET PG cut-off for general category is lower than 291 in 2023, but slightly rose above 275 in 2022; by one mark. However, the highest NEET PG cut-off compared to this year was recorded at 302 in 2021.

General-PwBD candidates at 45th percentile with 255 marks and SC, ST, OBC candidates at 40th percentile with 235 marks will be considered qualified for the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling.

While, the NEET PG cut-offs for General category candidates saw some fluctuations, the qualifying cut-off for general-PwBD and SC, ST, OBC have dropped compared to the previous years.

Candidates must note that the NEET PG cut-off marks were not declared last year - 2024 - as the NBEMS had adopted a normalisation method to calculate percentile since the exam was held in two shifts.

NEET PG cut-off 2025 for top colleges

MD Radiodiagnosis has been the most sought-after course among the NEET PG aspirants. Over the years, this courses witnessed intense competition.

Last year, NEET PG AIR 1 and AIR 3 toppers – Aarushi Narwani and Rupesh opted for MD Radiodiagnosis at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), New Delhi.

Other toppers from the top 50 ranks largely went for Dermatology, General Medicine, and Paediatrics in leading institutes like AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and JIPMER.

While drop in NEET PG cut-off comes as a relief, candidates still demand clarity on exam transparency and publication of answer key.

Now that the results are declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the NEET PG counselling schedule 2025 soon for 50% AIQ seats.
