NEET PG 2025 data 'leaked, sold'; personal details of 1.38 lakh aspirants exposed, claim doctors

In a shocking breach of privacy, personal information of more than 1.38 lakh NEET PG aspirants has been allegedly leaked and sold online for a mere Rs 3,599.

The breach came to light after a NEET PG aspirant flagged the issue on Reddit, alleging that a Telegram channel had advertised the sale of data of all NEET PG aspirants for just Rs 15,000.

“I gave him my own rank to cross verify information. Turns out he has legitimate information. All the info he has was accurate. He has my name, my father's name, email ID, phone number, state and what not,” the aspirant shared in a social media post.

This allegation has sparked outrage among NEET PG aspirants and doctors who have already been fighting for transparency in the exam.

Dr Vishal MD wrote on X: "Shocking !! The personal data of NEET PG students including their application IDs, email IDs, contact numbers, and roll numbers is being sold online."

"What a horrifying breach of trust! Shame on NMC, shame on the IT company involved. This is an absolute betrayal of students’ privacy and hard work and yet, NMC dares to call itself a transparent exam conducting body," he added.

Sharing the advertisement, Vibhor Gupta posted: “It’s deeply unfortunate that the personal data of 1,38,456 NEETPG aspirants has reportedly been leaked and sold online for just ₹3,599. The website allegedly displays sample data publicly to build trust with potential buyers.”

NBEMS under scrutiny

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is already under legal and public scrutiny after the aspirants approached the Supreme Court demanding exam transparency and release of NEET PG answer key along with full questions.

On September 26, the top court gave the board two weeks to respond. As per the computer-generated schedule, the Supreme Court will take up the matter tentatively on October 28.

An official told the Indian Express that the breach may have occurred at any level beyond NBEMS. However, the board has neither clarified nor addressed the data breach allegations yet.

Meanwhile, aspirants are awaiting MCC NEET PG counselling schedule 2025, which has been delayed further than last year’s timeline.
