The KGMU RDA has alleged that the senior residency seats in SGPGI, RMLIMS, and others have been “unjustifiably excluded” from the UP NEET PG seat matrix 2025.

The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) has flagged gross irregularities in the postgraduate (PG) seat matrix published by the Directorate General of Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh. A large number of senior residency seats from top government medical colleges have been “unjustifiably excluded” from the UP NEET PG seat matrix, the doctors’ group claimed.
The resident doctors claimed a large number of legitimate senior residency (SR) seats from premier government medical colleges like KGMU, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), and others have been “unjustifiably” excluded from the published matrix.
“In several departments, only 20–30% of the actual available seats have been reflected, while the rest remain hidden without explanation or transparency,” RDA and MD 2021 Batch of KGMU, Lucknow said in an official statement.
The reduction in the number of seats will deprive deserving and government-trained residents of opportunity to secure placements at top medical colleges, leading to a deterioration in the quality of specialist care, teaching, and academic standards.
“Talented doctors from government colleges, including rank-holders, are being pushed into peripheral postings—not by choice, but due to a lack of transparent seat availability,” it said. Notably, the UP NEET PG seat matrix 2025 can be viewed only through candidate login.
The doctors group have also expressed growing fear of aspirants that the vacant seats in these institutions may be later filled through “arbitrary or non-merit based” routes.
“Resident doctors who have served institutions like KGMU during difficult times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple healthcare crises, now feel betrayed by a system designed to displace them unfairly,” the statement read.

The doctors have urged the DGME, Uttar Pradesh to immediately publish a revised and complete PG seat matrix reflecting 100% of the available senior residency posts across all government medical colleges.
It also demanded accountability and transparency in the seat allocation process. The residents also asked for a “judicial review and investigation into any intentional suppression or unjustifiable regulations involved in the matrix”.
“This blatant discrepancy not only violates merit and institutional autonomy but also appears to be a calculated attempt to push deserving government doctors toward peripheral postings, while reserving prestigious seats which may be given to candidates from non-government medical colleges through later manipulations,” it added.
