The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2026) and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS 2026) exam dates. As per the announcement, the NEET PG 2026 exam will be held on August 30.

The board will conduct the NEET MDS 2026 exam on May 2. For NEET-MDS 2026, NBEMS has fixed the internship completion cut-off date as May 31, 2026. For NEET-PG 2026, the internship cut-off date is September 30, 2026.

Both examinations will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode at designated test centres across the country, the notice said.

As per NBEMS, admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses is only through the NEET PG examination, and no state government, private medical college or university is permitted to conduct a separate entrance test for these programmes.

However, MD/MS admissions through NEET-PG do not apply to certain medical institutions.

“Candidates are advised to refer to the Information Bulletin for the respective examinations for further details. The Information Bulletin shall be published in due course on the NBEMS website at https://natboard.edu.in,” the board said.

These institutions include AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram.

NEET PG counselling and cut-offs

Candidates who qualify NEET PG will be eligible to participate in the counselling process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts NEET PG counselling for admission to 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, along with seats in deemed/central universities and ESIC/AFMS institutes, while state counselling covers the remaining seats.

The AIQ counselling is conducted in four rounds—Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and the stray vacancy round.

As per the latest NBES update on January 13, the board has revised and lowered the NEET PG 2025 cut-off.

The reduced cutoff marks are 103 for General, 90 for General-PwD, and 40 for SC/ST/OBC (including PwD). Earlier, the initial cutoff was 276 for General, 255 for General-PwD, and 235 for SC/ST/OBC.
