Disappointed with the high court’s verdict, the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Undergraduate (NEET) UG 2025 candidates who faced power outage during the exam have now approached the Supreme Court for relief, as per a Live Law report. Madhya Pradesh HC denied NEET re-exam 2025 to 75 Indore, Ujjain candidates who claimed that their exam was affected due to the incident.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi has listed the matter for hearing next week. The apex court refused an early hearing, even when the petitioners’ counsel mentioned that the NEET UG counselling 2025 is set to commence from July 21, citing ample opportunities for aspirants.
Following the MP HC order, the National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET UG result 2025 of such candidates whose results were withheld. The HC revoked the direction to the agency for holding re-NEET 2025 for affected candidates observing that there was enough natural light and around 70 candidates who took the NEET 2025 on May 4 at the affected centres filed petitions seeking re-test.
Reserving its verdict while hearing NTA's appeal against a single judge order, the bench remarked that more than 22 lakh candidates appeared for the medical entrance exam but all of them can't be selected; an individual event can't affect the whole exam. A division bench had earlier said no to NEET UG 2025 re-test, staying the single judge order.
A single-judge bench led by Justice Subodh Abhyankar had granted the relief to the petitioners finding them at a disadvantage without any fault and ordered that their revised ranks in the NEET UG 2025 re-test be considered for MBBS, BDS admissions.
The MP high court had allowed the testing agency to declare NEET UG 2025 results for all except for 11 exam centres in Indore which witnessed power outage, after putting the result declaration on hold initially. The NTA counsel had requested permission to publish results.
NEET result 2025 was declared on June 14. The exam was held on May 4 for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH courses in medical and dental colleges across the country.
