IIM Mumbai continues to hold 6th position in NIRF management rankings 2025 for 2 consecutive year

NIRF Management Rankings 2025: The Ministry of Education, Government of India has hosted the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 for a total of 17 categories, among management at nirfindia.org.

The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has retained its 6th position in the 10th edition of the NIRF India Rankings 2025, announced earlier today. IIM Ahmedabad has once again bagged first position in the NIRF management India rankings for consecutively six years.

The Ministry of Education, Government of India has hosted the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 for a total of 17 categories, among management rankings at nirfindia.org.

Manoj Tiwari, director, IIM Mumbai said: “We are delighted to be ranked 6th in the NIRF 2025 Management Rankings. This achievement is a reflection of the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners who collectively drive the Institute’s mission. While rankings provide external validation, our true focus remains on nurturing responsible leaders, advancing cutting-edge research, and contributing to India’s growth story. This recognition motivates us to further raise our benchmarks and strengthen IIM Mumbai’s position as a global hub for management education.”

Expressing delight over the NIRF India rankings for management institutes, IIM Mumbai said that the result is the consistent efforts in delivering world-class management education, driving impactful research, and strengthening its connection with industry and society.

“The Institute’s performance across critical NIRF parameters - Teaching, Learning & Resources; Research & Professional Practice; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach & Inclusivity; and Perception, showcases its balanced growth and commitment to excellence,” as per the official statement by the institute.

IIM Mumbai’s NIRF Rankings timeline

Notably, IIM Mumbai made its maiden appearance in the NIRF India rankings 2024, and since then its has been consecutively retains its position in the NIRF management rankings. In 2024, the institute replaced IIM Lucknow from its 6th position in the 9th edition of the NIRF management rankings.

The institutes are assessed on the basis of placement outcomes, innovative curriculum design, and global collaborations, including several other parameters.

This year, IIM Ahmedabad has bagged the top position out of 100 management institutes in the NIRF India management rankings 2025, followed by IIM Bangalore and Kozhikode.

Interestingly, IIT Delhi has secured 4th spot, replacing IIM Calcutta. IIM Lucknow has been ranked at 5th position.

Besides the 16 category-based NIRF rankings, the ministry has added a 17th category from this year onwards - sustainable development goals, along with slew of revisions in the negative marking for the retraction of research papers.
