National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 were published by the ministry of education (MoE) today, September 4. As per the NIRF Rankings 2025, SSPU is placed at 91st overall, 56th among universities, and 11th among public state university category.

Last year, in NIRF Rankings 2025, SSPU was at 37th overall, 23rd among universities, and 3rd under the state public university category.

NIRF Rankings 2025: SSPU analyses ranking factors

SSPU has attributed the fall in NIRF rankings primarily to a decrease in the number of faculty members. Over the past 2 years, a large number of senior faculty members have retired, which has significantly impacted the faculty-student ratio (FSR), a major parameter in NIRF rankings.

Additionally, the launch of new degree courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) has increased student admissions, further straining the FSR. The retirement of experienced faculty members has also affected the SSPU’s research output, another crucial factor in rankings.

Future strategy of SSPU

Despite such challenges, SSPU aims to take proactive steps to improve its ranking. SSPU’s faculty recruitment process is underway, and upon its completion, the university expects to see improvement in its FSR and research output.

“SPPU is committed to increasing its focus on research outcomes and improving public perception. The university's leadership is confident that these initiatives will contribute to a better ranking in the future,” the official SSPU statement said.

SSPU has addressed the decline in the NIRF rankings 2025 position and remains committed to improve its performance.
