PGIMER 2025 registration begins for BSc nursing admission; eligibility, application fee, seat intake

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has commenced the registration process for the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing (Post-Basic) and BSc Nursing (4 Years) programmes for the academic session 2025. Eligible candidates can register for the entrance exam through the official website at pgimer.edu.in.

As per the official schedule, the last date to register for the entrance exam is June 30. The institute will conduct the entrance exam for the BSc nursing course admission on July 27, and the results will be declared on August 9, 2025.

Following the result announcement, document verification for shortlisted candidates for BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) will be held on August 11, and counselling will be conducted on August 12, 2025. For the BSc Nursing (4 Years) course, document verification will take place on August 13, and counselling is scheduled for August 14, 2025.

To register for the exam, candidates from the SC, ST categories will have to pay Rs 1,200, while all other categories will have to pay Rs 1,500 along with transaction charges. However, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from the payment of fees.

PGIMER Admission 2025: Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for the BSc Nursing (4 Years) programmes are given below.

For female candidates only

  • Candidates have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) and should have passed English as a separate subject. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backwards Classes (OBC) categories are required to have secured at least 40% marks.
  • Candidates appearing for the Class 12 examination in 2025 can also apply. However, they should submit their final mark sheets/certificates to the principal at least 10 days before the commencement of the entrance examination to receive the admit card/roll number.
  • Candidates should be at least 17 years old as of September 1 2025. The maximum age should be 35 years old as of September 1 2025.

For Co-Ed candidates

  • Candidates should have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Candidates should also have completed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates should be registered nurses and registered midwives from a recognised institute, registered with the respective State Nursing Council (approved by the Indian Nursing Council).
  • Candidates should be a maximum of 45 years old as of September 1, 2025. Candidates born before September 1, 1980, are not eligible.
