Raju Basnet, education minister of Sikkim, proposed the Sikkim Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation Amendment Bill, 2026) to regulate practitioners of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy.
Under the revised rates, 1st-year students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 40,000, second-year will get Rs 60,000 in place of Rs 45,000, and 3rd-year will be given Rs 65,000 in place of Rs 50,000.
"The Aadhaar-enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) will be introduced across all government-funded and state-sponsored skill development training centres," as per an official notification.
