Priyanka Gandhi slams BJP-led Govt for charging 18% GST on exam forms

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has slammed the BJP-led government for levying GST on exam forms. The politician said that the government in power has failed the Indian parents who saved every penny for their children for exams and turned them into a source of income to fill their pockets.

The general secretary of Congress shared an exam form of the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Sultanpur, showing 18% GST charge on fees.

"The BJP cannot provide jobs to youngsters but it is definitely rubbing salt on the wounds by charging 18 per cent GST on examination forms. GST is being charged on every government job form, including Agniveer," Priyanka Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

She further said that “parents sacrifice their lives and save every penny to educate their children and prepare them for the exams but the BJP government has turned their dreams into a source of income, " a PTI report said.

In other news, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has earned Rs 3,513.98 crore since its establishment in 2018 and spent 87.2% of that, Rs 3,064.77 crore, on holding exams so far, the government told the parliament recently.

In a significant move, the Union education minister, recently said that the NTA will not be holding the recruitment exams for college admissions, instead will focus on college entrance exams.
