Punjab announces holiday for all schools on January 27

Punjab CM has declared a holiday across all government and private schools in view of the Republic Day 2026 celebrations.
The Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a holiday for all schools today in view of the Republic Day 2026 celebrations. All government, aided, private, and recognized schools of the state are advised ensure strict compliance with the orders.
“On the joyous occasion of Republic Day 2026 , a holiday is declared in all government, aided, private, and recognized schools of the state on January 27 in the presence of the announcement made by the Chief Minister of Punjab. Ensure strict compliance with these orders,” the education minister Harjot Singh Bains posted on his official X account.
Punjab and Haryana joined the nation in celebrating the 77th Republic Day 2026. The Punjab Governor and administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria unfurled the national flag at a state-level function in Fazilka, while the Punjab CM hoisted the national flag in Hoshiarpur.

During his address in Hoshiarpur district, the CM also paid tributes to freedom fighters who fought for the country's independence and said he salutes the armed forces for protecting the country's unity and integrity.
Police and home guard contingents participated in the Republic Day Parades 2026 at district headquarters in both states, while stringent security measures were put in place across the regions following the Republic Day celebrations 2026
