Rajasthan Heavy Rainfall Alert: The District Collector has ordered the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres for students from pre-primary to Class 12, while staff will continue to report for duty.
All schools and Anganwadi centres in Jaipur district will remain closed for students on August 25 and 26 after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rainfall red alert warning in the region. The decision was announced by District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Kumar Soni, in an official order.
According to the order, the closure will apply to all students from pre-primary to Class 12 in government as well as private schools, along with children enrolled in Anganwadi centres. However, teachers and other staff, both academic and non-academic, are required to attend duty as usual.
“On the basis of the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a red alert has been declared for the possibility of heavy rainfall and, at some places, extremely heavy rainfall in Jaipur district. Considering the safety and health of students, the Chief District Education Officer, Jaipur, has requested that holidays be declared on August 25, 2025, and August 26, 2025,” the official notice said.
The directive was issued after the Chief District Education Officer recommended suspension of classes in view of student safety and health concerns amid the weather forecast. The order further cautioned that any violation by anganwadi centres or schools, government or private, will attract action under the Disaster Management Act.

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Jaipur district on August 25 and 26. Local authorities have been directed to stay alert, and the district administration said any further decision on school operations will depend on how the weather develops.
This marks the second time in the current monsoon that schools in Jaipur have been closed due to heavy rain warnings. Earlier, several districts had declared school holidays on July 28 and 29 in anticipation of heavy rainfall.
According to the Jaipur district government, the state received 499.27 mm of rainfall between June 1 and August 24, 2025, 48% above normal. Over the past three days, rainfall exceeded 100 mm.
