Ghaziabad, Noida schools closed on September 3 due to heavy rains; J-K Class 10, 11 exams postponed

Due to severe rainfall, the district authorities of Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar have instructed schools to remain shut tomorrow, September 3. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) also postponed the Class 10, 11 exams scheduled for tomorrow.

JKBOSE will soon notify the fresh dates for Class 10 and 12 exams. The country is experiencing a flood-like situation in several parts due to heavy rains and bad weather conditions.

Furthermore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more showers are in the coming hours, with forecasts indicating light to moderate rainfall at several places in Delhi. The city is currently under a yellow alert, as per the IMD’s colour-coded system.

J-K schools, colleges closed till September 4

While the JKBOSE’s post on its official X account did not mention a specific reason, the ongoing weather conditions in the region are likely the cause. The University of Jammu has also postponed all exams till September 4. According to local meteorological office reports, moderate to heavy rainfall in most parts of the Jammu division was predicted till September 3.

Heavy rainfall was predicted in Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, and Reasi, and moderate to heavy rainfall over Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, and Kishtwar in the Jammu region and Anantnag and Kulgam in South Kashmir mainly.

Uttar Pradesh schools shut

All schools in Ghaziabad and Noida will remain closed tomorrow following the orders from the district magistrate. All classes from nursery to Class 12, government and aided institutions will as well as Madrasa institutions, are instructed to strictly follow compliance.

Chandigarh schools closed

According to an official statement, all schools in Chandigarh will remain closed on September 3 due to the inclement weather in the region. “In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions in the region, all schools of UT (union territory) Chandigarh shall remain closed on September 3,” the official statement said. All government and private schools in Chandigarh were shut today as well.

Punjab schools shut for 3 days

The Punjab government has extended the school closure across the state till September 3. The state chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, has instructed that all government, private, and aided schools remain closed during this period to ensure students' safety.
