School Holidays: All schools in UP, Rajasthan, Bihar will remain shut in account of Diwali and Chhath puja, and Karnataka schools will remain closed till Oct 18 due ongoing caste survey.

With the festive season underway and administrative tasks ongoing, schools in several states, including Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are observing holiday breaks this month. The closures allow students and teachers to take part in celebrations or assist with official ongoing surveys.
The Karnataka caste survey, which began on September 22, was initially scheduled to conclude on October 7; however, due to delays in several districts, the chief minister, along with other officials, decided to extend it by another 10 days, for which school holidays have been announced.
Additionally, all schools in Telangana will also be closed on October 20, and an additional holiday will be given on October 21 on account of Diwali. However, an official notice is yet to be issued.
The Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the government and government-aided schools in the state will be closed till October 18, allowing teachers participating in the ongoing school and educational survey commonly known as ‘caste survey’ to complete their assigned duties.
According to reports, all the schools in Bihar will remain closed from October 20 onwards, including the next weekend, accommodating both Diwali celebrations and Chhath puja festivals

According to several media reports, all schools in Rajasthan will remain closed from October 13 to October 24 for Diwali holidays, as per the education department. The 12-day break will give students and teachers an extended festival period. This year, the Diwali vacation will be extended for a longer period, starting right after the weekend.
According to the education department of Uttar Pradesh’s official website, all schools will be closed from October 20 to 23 on account of Diwali and Govardhan Puja. Students will have a 5-day break as October 19 is a Sunday, giving them ample time to spend with their family.
