NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education marks the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 with a week-long “Shiksha Saptah” campaign. On Day 7, schools across the country focus on enhancing community participation in education through the Vidyanjali and Tithi Bhojan initiatives.
Vidyanjali, a school volunteer management program operated by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, was inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi on September 7, 2021. The initiative seeks to enhance schools and elevate education quality nationwide by engaging the community, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the private sector involvement.
As part of the Shiksha Saptah campaign, the Department of School Education and Literacy has shared a list of recommended activities for schools. Schools are focusing on registering on the Vidyanjali portal and identifying local volunteers for support. They will also display the names of active volunteers on a wall of fame or notice board within the schools. Moreover, principals, teachers, and students will write letters of appreciation to these volunteers.
Community awareness activities, including rallies, street plays, poster-making, and chart-making about volunteer activities, will also be organized. State and district-level officials are actively involved to ensure the campaign's success. As per the official press release, these efforts support the National Education Policy 2020's objective of enhancing community involvement in education.
The official press release read, “These activities aim to build a strong support system for students and teachers, creating a better learning environment, by bringing together schools, volunteers, and the community through the Vidyanjali portal.”
