NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has warned of disciplinary and legal action against candidates found using unfair means in the exam. The SSC notification comes after candidates flagged large-scale irregularities in the SSC Clerk exam 2024. The Delhi Police has also filed an FIR and started the investigation after 53 candidates allegedly used unfair means to cheat in the exam, as per a report.

The commission said that the facilitating transmission and storage of test contents in any form or means will be considered as “serious misconduct” and those found involved in unfair means will be disqualified from appearing in the forthcoming exams.

Background wave

It said that some persons have been found to have unauthorized possession of exam content and were engaged in malpractice through social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook.

“Disciplinary and legal action would be taken against such candidates or persons/individuals involved as per rules and such matters would be reported to police, if necessary.

The SSC suspected irregularities after 53 candidates correctly answered almost all questions in the SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL) exam. Most of the exam centres, where the exam was suspected to be compromised, were in Rajasthan. Each centre had at least 5-7 candidates, as per the Times of India report.

SSC: What is unfair means?

The SSC reiterated that it will take legal action against those involved in malpractices. Those found to be “disclosing, publishing, reproducing, transmitting, storing or facilitating transmission and storage of test contents in any form of any information therein in whole or part thereof or by any means i.e. verbal or written, electronic or mechanical or taking away the rough papers supplied in the exam centre or found to be in unauthorized possession of test content will be considered as serious misconduct and will be debarred/disqualified from exam”.

The SSC CHSL final tier-2 results were declared in February and 1,211 candidates were recommended for recruitment.
