The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued guidelines for candidates appearing for the recruitment exams 2025. From mandatory carrying of the admit card and original ID proofs to strict instructions on dress code, gadgets, and unfair practices, the commission has clarified that any deviation from the prescribed rules could lead to cancellation of candidature, debarment, or even legal action.

Candidates have been advised to carry the SSC admit card 2025 to the examination centre “invariably”. They must ensure that the invigilator signs the admission certificate before leaving the exam hall.

Government job aspirants are advised not to write anything on the admit card before coming to the exam venue, otherwise their entry to the examination venue will be banned. The examinees will be required to write in the specified space on the hall ticket in the invigilator’s presence only after the first login during the exam.

“Candidates must treat their Admission Certificate with utmost care. Distorting, folding or damaging the bar-code area must be avoided at all costs,” SSC stated.

While it is advisable to follow the reporting time mentioned in the admit card and reach the venue before closing of the gates, aspirants must visit the location one day before the exam. Appearing in the exam more than once would lead to disqualification and lead to action against the candidate.

Candidates shall have to undergo the process of frisking through Hand Held Metal Detector (HHMD) and also through body tapping.

SSC Exams 2025: Documents required

They are required to carry any one of the following photo identity proofs in original:

  • Passport
  • Aadhaar Card/Print out of e-Aadhaar
  • Driving License
  • Service ID Card issued to employees by Central Govt./State Govt./ PSUs
  • ID Card issued by University/College/School
  • Voter’s ID Card
  • PAN Card
  • Ex-Servicemen Discharge Book issued by Ministry of Defence
  • Any other Photo Identity Proof issued by Central Govt./ State Govt.

The commission clarified that the photo identity proof should have the same date of birth as on the admission certificate. If not, the examinees will have to carry an additional certificate (in original) as proof of their date of birth (Class 10 marksheet issued only by recognized boards; birth certificate, category certificate etc.)

Examinees may lose candidature if they don’t maintain a sitting posture to get a clear photograph while getting clicked at the time of entry into the exam hall, during the test, and towards the end of the exam for biometric authentication. No candidate will be allowed to cover their face.

SSC exam guidelines for PwD, PwBD candidates

Candidates claiming Person with Disability (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark disabilities (PwBD) status are required to bring the required original physically handicapped documents and a copy to avail the compensatory time of 20 minutes and scribe facility.

The commission clarified that the scribe brought by the disabled candidates should not be an examinee of the particular exam.

OTR registration

SSC advised the candidates coming from non-Aadhaar route during One-Time Registration (OTR) to bring the same documents in original (and a copy) which they have uploaded at the time of registration. Otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.

Things to carry, dress code

Candidates can bring their own water bottle provided the bottle is transparent. Prohibited items such as watch, books, pens, paper chits, magazines, electronic gadgets (mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, head phones, spy cameras, scanner, calculator, storage devices etc.) are strictly prohibited in the examination lab.

Carrying any such item would not only lead to cancellation of candidature, he or she will be debarred from appearing in the future exams and be liable to criminal proceedings.

Candidates are advised not to bring bags and prohibited items into the examination venue. In case they bring any such item, they would have to make their own arrangements for safe custody of such items. The commission will not be liable to make any arrangement for safe custody of any such item. Pen and paper for rough work would also be provided in the examination lab.

Aspirants should avoid wearing items like nose pins, bracelets, earrings, charms, kadas etc. In case, religion/ customs require candidates to wear specific attire, the frisking may take more time and therefore candidates should report at the venue of examination early.

Unfair means, unethical conduct

Candidates have been instructed not to indulge in any unfair means, not to talk with each other during the exam, and not to obstruct the conduct of the exam. If any candidate is found in an inebriated state, he or she will not be allowed entry to the venue.

The commission asked the participants to report any irregularity during the exam to the regional office and ensured that the identity of such candidates will be kept confidential.

While the commission denied a re-exam if it is found that the examination was disrupted on account of instigation by the candidates, it assured the aspirants that in case of disruption of examination for any reason such as major or minor technical snag, slow speed of server, breakdown of server etc. they will not, under any circumstances, lose the examination time.
