Expressing deep concern over the alleged irregularities, administrative mismanagement, and mistreatment of candidates in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demanded a high-level investigation into the matter and the strictest action against the guilty.

Recently, the police baton-charged those protesting the SSC mismanagement, further igniting the issue. A large number of students and teachers have been protesting over the sudden cancellation of SSC Selection Post Phase 13 exam due to technical glitches.

The student group argued that incidents such as errors in exam center allocation, disruptions in examinations due to technical issues, and the use of force on candidates peacefully protesting outside the DoPT office in Delhi during the SSC exams held last month have raised serious questions about the transparency of the examination agency and the entire system.

Millions of youth participate in the important examinations conducted by the commission with hopes for a better future, and the occurrence of mismanagement and lack of transparency in their conduct is extremely unfortunate, the student association remarked.

Asserting that it has always been an advocate for transparency and integrity in examinations, ABVP condemned the issuance of admit cards just two days before the scheduled time, allocation of distant centers to many candidates, technical issues arising at some centers during the exam, and mistreatment of candidates protesting the irregularities. “ABVP opposes this and demands immediate and strict action against those responsible,” it said.

The student group further said that the cancellation of the examination without prior notice reflects the complete failure of the examination agency. This has adversely affected the candidates’ time, effort, financial resources, and mental energy.

ABVP demands high-level investigation

ABVP condemned the entire incident and demanded setting up of a high-level inquiry committee to punish the guilty, prompt announcement of dates for the canceled examinations, assurance of transparency in center allocation, and establishment of respectful communication with the candidates.

“ABVP appeals to the protesting candidates across the country to avoid any misleading or unverified information and to present their demands in a restrained, factual, and clear manner,” it added.

Virendra Solanki, National General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, said, “The irregularities in the examinations conducted by SSC are not merely administrative mismanagement but an injustice to the self-respect and future of the youth. Sensitivity, transparency, and accountability must be the top priorities in the conduct of this important national examination."

"ABVP firmly believes that the strictest action should be taken against the guilty, the dates for the canceled examinations should be announced promptly, and appropriate action should be taken on the candidates’ demands. ABVP stands with the candidates across the country and will continue to struggle at every level for their justice," he added.
