The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced that it will conduct fresh SSC Selection Post Phase 13 exam on August 29 for 55,000 candidates, whose exam data had inconsistencies due to technical glitches. The clarification comes amid the ongoing protests by the SSC candidates, alleging mismanagement, irregularities, and far-off exam centres.

The SSC Selection Post Phase 13 exam was the first computer-based test (CBT) conducted by the commission based on the revised model, as per the reforms directed by the Supreme Court.

Around 11.50 lakh applicants registered for the exams, out of which more than 5.50 lakh candidates sat in the matric, higher secondary and graduate levels. The exam was held at 194 centres across the country from July 24 to August 1.

Why SSC ordered re-exam?

To tackle impersonation and related malpractices, the commission introduced Aadhaar-based authentication for candidates and exam functionaries. However, some students faced technical glitches due to operations issues. Such candidates were later identified and accommodated in subsequent shifts till August 1.

Additionally, one more exam was conducted on August 2, in which around 8,000 candidates appeared, the SSC said. Upon analysing the logs of the exam held on August 2, it found out gaps in data.

Giving the "benefit of doubt" to the 55,000 identified candidates, it has decided to conduct a re-exam. The commission said that such candidates will be informed about the proposed re-exams through their registered email ID and mobile number.

It has also assured to assign a centre from among the three cities opted by them during registration. The SSC admit card for the scheduled re-exam will be issued on August 26.
