University of Sheffield invites applications for BSc Computer Science AI for September 2026 intake

University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (UK) has started accepting applications for BSc Computer Science AI programme for September 2026 intakes. The three-year programme offers an option to add an additional placement year in the later stages of course duration, including opportunities to study abroad.

To apply for the BSc computer science AI programme, applicants should have at least 85%-90% marks in Class 12 with maths and computer science. Applicants should also have International English Language Testing System (IELTS) grade of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or an equivalent acceptable qualification.

According to the official Sheffield University statement, the programme tuition fees for the 2026 entry have not yet been confirmed. However, interested applicants can refer to the 2025–26 annual tuition fee for overseas students as a guideline, which is £30,570.

"This core knowledge will prepare students to delve into the captivating world of AI, where they will explore areas like machine learning, natural language processing and robotics," the official Sheffield University statement said.

Sheffield University: BSc Computer Science AI modules

According to the official Sheffield University statement, the BSc Computer Science AI programme core module in one and two years will offer knowledge about foundations of computer science, while the final year will allow them to tailor their studies to their interests. Alongside these specialised modules, final year students have to focus on the dissertation project guided by one of the lecturers.

The BSc Computer Science AI programme is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) and it fully meets the requirements for Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) and partially meets the requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng).

“This course provides a core grounding in computer science with a focus on AI. Students will build the same solid foundation as the university's main computer science degree and explore a range of AI topics such as biologically inspired algorithms, machine learning, computer vision, and robotics. It equips students with essential technical skills in software engineering, programming, algorithms, and data structures,” the official Sheffield University statement adds.
