Sukanta Majumar, Jayant Chaudhary new ministers of state for education

The BJP leaders took charge as the MoS for Education. Jayant Chaudhary is also MoS for skill development, entrepreneurship.
NEW DELHI: Sukanta Majumdar and Jayant Chaudhary took charge as the ministers of state for education under the newly elected Narendra Modi government. Chaudhary has also been deputed (independent charge) as the MoS of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The Ministry of Education took to X and shared the news, “Sukanta Majumdar officially assumed charge as Minister of State for Education at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, today. He expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership. Dr. Majumdar also emphasized his commitment to working towards the welfare and development of students across the nation.”
After taking charge, Majumdar said on social media that he is inspired by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the vast experience of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan . The minister expressed that he’s eager to contribute towards realizing PM Modi's vision for transforming the education sector.
“Shri Jayant Chaudhary officially assumed his duties as Minister of State for Education, at Shastri Bhawan today. He expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the trust placed in him and pledged his commitment to working diligently towards enhancing the education sector,” the education ministry said about the other MoS.
He expressed excitement to play his part in the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry and said he’s honored to have a role in the education ministry.
Jayant Chaudhary is the national chairman of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh -- India's fifth prime minister. Previously associated with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, he joined the NDA ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) posthumously honoured his grandfather with the Bharat Ratna in February this year.
West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar previously served as a professor of Botany at the University of Gour Banga. Majumdar has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since his twenties. He was assigned to the Bengal BJP in 2014, marking his transition into active political involvement. He was appointed as the state unit president of the BJP in September 2021.
