Telangana minister reviews TGBIE digital monitoring system in government junior colleges

Telangana minister for SC Development, Tribal Welfare and Minority Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar visited the Command Control Room of the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) today, October 11. The minister reviewed the digital monitoring system implemented in government junior colleges across the state.

During the visit, the minister reaffirmed the Chief Minister's commitment to providing education to students from underprivileged communities. He outlined plans to equip students in Residential Gurukulas and Government Junior Colleges with updated infrastructure and digital learning tools.

CCTV, facial recognition deployed for college monitoring

The TGBIE digital system includes CCTV monitoring, a Facial Recognition System (FRS), and a Human Resource Management System (HRMS), aimed at enhancing accountability. Key measures implemented include daily WhatsApp attendance updates sent to parents and an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) for grievance redressal.

“He highlighted the TGBIE's digital ecosystem—comprising CCTV monitoring, Facial Recognition System (FRS), and a Human Resource Management System (HRMS)—which is driving transparency and accountability,” the official press release said.

Real-time monitoring introduced

The minister said the government aims to improve facilities in Residential Gurukulas and Government Junior Colleges. He added that efforts are being made to introduce better infrastructure and digital learning tools.

TGBIE Secretary Sri Krishna Aditya, IAS, explained that the Command Control Room enables real-time monitoring of all government junior colleges. Currently, 430 Government Junior Colleges are covered by CCTV, and 1,44,530 of the 1,61,233 enrolled students are registered under the FRS for real-time tracking. Ten Special Officers have been appointed to coordinate with District Collectors and monitor colleges across districts.

The Minister also noted the TGBIE’s focus on holistic development, including mandatory Yoga and Meditation sessions on Saturdays and regular sports activities for students.
