The national scholarship for post graduate studies includes a grant of Rs 15,000 per month for 10 months in a year.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued the merit list for the National Scholarship for post graduate students for the academic year 2024-25. The merit list has been released for PG students from humanities, social sciences, and science streams.
A total of 10,000 PG students, including 5,000 from humanities and social sciences, and science streams have been included in the provisional merit list. The merit list contained student's application ID, name, institution, and course.
The national scholarship for post graduate studies includes a grant of Rs 15,000 per month for 10 months in a year. The scholarship is granted to students to pursue higher studies within India, leading to award of postgraduate degree under ‘National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.’
Eligible students can apply for the scholarship until November 15, 2025 and the institute verification window will be open till November 30. The national scholarship applications are open at scholarships.gov.in.
The national scholarship is available for students aiming to pursue first PG degree programmes. Those who have already acquired a PG degree are not eligible to apply.
Students who have acquired seats in PG degree programmes in an eligible university or colleges are eligible to apply.
“In case of integrated programmes, the scholarship shall be given for PG component only. Only students who are below the age of 30 years of age as on the date of admission in the first semester/year of a PG programme are eligible to apply under these schemes,” according to the official notification.
Notably, only full time or regular PG students are eligible for the scholarship. Those from open, distance or private mode are barred from the grant.
According to the official notification, the slots reserved for women students will be filled first by single, twin, fraternal girl child without considering their marks in UG examination. While the remaining slots will be filled up by merit.
