UGC NET December 2024: Registered candidates will be allowed to edit details entered in the UGC NET form during the correction period between December 12 to 13.

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) registration process for the December session 2024 today. The UGC NET December 2024 exam will be held between January 1 to 19 to determine eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as assistant professor, and PhD admission.
The NTA will hold the UGC NET exam 2024 for December session in computer-based test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects. As per the UGC NET application fee details, the general and unreserved category candidates will have to pay Rs 1,150, general-EWS, OBC-NCL will have to pay Rs 600, and SC, ST, PwD, third gender will have to deposit Rs 325. The last date to make payment of UGC NET registration fee is December 11.
Registered candidates will be allowed to edit details entered in the UGC NET form 2024 during the correction period between December 12 to 13.
Following this, the NTA will issue the UGC NET exam city slip to give an idea as to where the exam centre is likely to be allocated for the December session. The advance exam city slip is different from the hall ticket. The UGC NET admit card 2024 will have more details on the exam centre, date, venue, exam timings, personal details, and exam day instructions.

Only those candidates who fulfill the age criteria will be awarded JRF fellowship, and considered for assistant professor posts or admission to PhD.
Age limit for JRF - Applicants should not be more than 30 years as on 1st day of the month in the exam is conducted ie. January 1, 2025. A relaxation of up to 5 years is given to those belonging to the OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, third gender categories and female applicants.
Age limit for assistant professor - There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC NET for assistant professor.
Age limit for PhD admission - There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for admission to PhD.
“Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/ related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority,” the NTA said.
The certificate should be issued by any Indian university, Institute of National Importance, or foreign university which is duly recognized by the central or state government.
“The research should not have been carried out towards completion of graduation or post-graduation degree(s),” it clarified.
Applicants who have completed their LLM will be given three years’ relaxation in age and a 5-year relaxation is given to those who have served in the armed forces, subject to the length of service.
