University of Strathclyde: International students applying for the course should have an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no component below 5.5. A faculty of science international scholarship worth 5,000 pounds is available for eligible students.
The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow is inviting applications for the Master of Research (MRes) in Mathematical Sciences course starting in September 2025. This is a one-year, full-time, research-focused postgraduate programme.
The programme is designed for students who aim to develop strong research skills, whether for academic careers, roles in industry, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or working in research and development (R&D). Research opportunities are available in four main groups within the department, including applied and computational mathematics, data science and statistics, mathematical and stochastic analysis, and mathematics of life sciences.
According to the institute, the department collaborates with researchers and institutions across the United Kingdom, Europe, China and the United States, and maintains close partnerships with industry, business and government sectors. The course fee for the MRes in Mathematical Sciences for the 2025–26 academic year is 23,100 pounds. The last date to register for the MRes in Mathematical Sciences course is September 30.
To be eligible for the course, applicants should hold a first-class or upper second-class honours degree from the United Kingdom, or an equivalent international qualification, in a subject related to mathematical sciences. An overall International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5, with no individual component below 5.5, is also required.
The institute is offering a Faculty of Science International Scholarship worth 5,000 pounds for new self-funded international (non-EU) students enrolling in the full-time MRes in Mathematical Sciences at the university. The amount will be deducted from the tuition fee.
Candidates are not required to submit a separate application for the scholarship. Eligible students who enrol in September 2025 and meet all criteria will automatically receive the scholarship. As per the institute, the scholarship cannot be deferred or transferred to another intake.
