NSUI's opposition

Earlier this month, the university had dissolved the student union and announced its decision to hold a fresh elections for the academic year 2025-26 in compliance with the Lyngdoh Committee guidelines, as mandated by the Supreme Court.

However, this move drew criticism from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), who called it an “arbitrary and undemocratic decision”.

The NSUI HCU claimed that the university had earlier convened an all-party meeting wherein it was unanimously agreed that elections would be conducted only after the ongoing Union activities were concluded. However, the administration “abruptly” dissolved the election students’ union and constituted the election commission, the students alleged.
