The Director General Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh has informed candidates participating in the UP NEET UG counselling 2025 that the MBBS and BDS fee structure for private non-minority colleges is under legal scrutiny.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court in its order dated September 1 heard a batch of petitions filed by private colleges. The court clarified that the fee structure for aided and unaided private medical colleges will remain provisional and is subject to final verdict of the court.

The colleges that filed the petition include Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences, Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, Krishna Mohan Medical College, Muzaffarnagar Medical College, NCR Institute of Medical Sciences, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute, among others.

Recently, the district administration initiated action against 11 candidates for using forged documents for MBBS admission. It also filed four FIRs against Vivek Thakur of Pakhanpura village, Khyati Gupta of Nagwa Gai village, Sumit Kumar Rai of Bibipur village and Ashutosh Kumar of Ferozepur village.

The Lucknow bench had also struck down the special reservation that pushed the quota to 79% in round 1 NEET UG admission at four medical colleges in Kannauj, Ambedkar Nagar, Jalaun, and Saharanpur. Following this, the DGME UP said it will issue fresh seat allotment for these four colleges.

Students allotted seats in non-minority medical colleges in UP have been instructed to wait for the pending judgement before paying the fees.
