The revised UP NEET UG seat allotment will be published on the official website, upneet.gov.in.
The update comes after the Lucknow bench struck down the special reservation that pushed the quota to 79% in round 1 NEET UG admission at four UP medical colleges in Kannauj, Ambedkar Nagar, Jalaun, and Saharanpur.
Out of the 340 total seats across these four colleges, only 28 were allotted to the general category, while 248 were allotted to SC, 20 to ST, and 44 to Other Backward Classes (OBC), according to an India Today report.
These medical colleges admitted more students from the reserved category by following four government orders (GOs) issued by Uttar Pradesh in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015. The court in its order dated August 25 has struck down all these UP government orders which mandated fixing of quotas for reservation in excess of the extent of reservation prescribed in the 2006 Act of the State Government.
In simple words, the state had made rules that gave more reservation than legally allowed. These government orders have now been quashed.
“The State of U.P. is directed to fill the seats in the said four colleges afresh strictly based upon the reservation as prescribed under the Reservation Act of 2006 along with the reservation for the Central Government seats and the State Government seats,” the latest notice from DGME UP stated.
The court has directed the DGME to hold a fresh round of UP NEET UG counselling 2025 to fill the seats afresh.
