Authorities have instructed all schools and Anganwadi centres to remain closed, and officials will ensure strict compliance for student safety.

All schools and Anganwadi centres in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, will remain closed on August 23, 2025. The decision follows a severe weather warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun.
As per the official notice, parts of Pithoragarh and other districts in Uttarakhand are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, on August 23, 2025. The forecast also warns of intense rainfall spells in some areas.
In view of these conditions, the administration has directed that all government, private, and unaided schools from Class 1 to Class 12, along with all Anganwadi centres in the district, will remain closed to ensure the safety of students.

“Accordingly, following the weather warning issued by the IMD, a one-day holiday is declared on August 23, 2025 (Saturday) for all government, private, and unaided schools from Class 1 to Class 12, as well as all Anganwadi centres in Pithoragarh district, in view of ensuring the safety of students,” the official notice said.
The notice further states that the chief education officer of Pithoragarh and the district programme officer of the department of child development have been tasked with ensuring compliance with the order across all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres in the district. The directive comes as part of proactive measures to prevent accidents and ensure student safety amid severe weather conditions.
