WBBSE announces summative evaluations schedule 2025 for Classes 6 to 10, Madhyamik Pariksha 2026 in November

West Bengal Summative Evaluations 2025: The third summative for Classes 6 to 9 will be held from December 1 to 10, 2025, while Class 10 exams or the Madhyamik Pariksha are to be conducted between November 3 and 13, 2025.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued the schedule for the second and third summative evaluations for Classes 6 to 10 and the selection test for Madhyamik Pariksha, 2026. As per the official notice, the West Bengal second summative evaluation for Classes 6 to 10 will be conducted no earlier than August 1, 2025, and should be completed by August 8, 2025.
The third summative evaluation for Classes 6 to 9 is scheduled between December 1 and December 10, 2025. For Class 10, schools are directed to conduct either the third summative evaluation or the selection test for Madhyamik Pariksha from November 3 to November 13, 2025.
Heads of institutions have been directed to prepare their own question papers and to mention the name of the school on top of each paper. The use of external agencies or bodies for question paper setting has been strictly prohibited.
“Each and every school must prepare the question papers of their own and mention the name of the Institution at the top of the question paper. External agencies/bodies cannot be outsourced to frame question papers for the said examinations,” the official notice said.

Question papers to follow prescribed format
Schools have been instructed to prepare summative question papers for Classes 6 to 10 as per the syllabus division, mark distribution and model structure of sample papers available on the official WBBSE website. The board has emphasised that summative question papers should be designed keeping the expected learning outcomes in focus.
The notice further states that the evaluation process should serve as a means to assess the extent to which the expected learning outcomes have been met. Heads of institutions have been directed to ensure close monitoring of the process, as any deviation or breach will be subject to accountability.
