Only 2.47% qualify in West Bengal TET 2023; 64 candidates bag top 10 ranks

After a prolonged delay, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education has announced the results for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET 2023) for Classes 1 to 5. Out of 2.73 lakh candidates who appeared for the West Bengal TET exam, only 6,754 have qualified – just 2.47%.

The WBBPE conducted the exam on December 24 for a total of 3,09,054 (3 lakh) candidates to recruit 13,421 teachers for Classes 1 to 5. However, the post-exam events were deferred due to a legal bottleneck caused by the OBC reservation policy.

According to the WB TET toppers list 2025, a total of 64 candidates have been placed in the top 10 ranks. With 125 marks, Ina Singha obtained rank 1 in the West Bengal TET 2023 and Kajal Kuti secured rank 2.

The board earlier posted the WB TET final answer key for all question codes – WBBPE/A1-23, B2-23, C3-23, D4-23 and E5-23 — on its official website, wbbpe.wb.gov.in.

West Bengal Board president Goutam Pal told the PTI that the expert committee examined all disputes pertaining to respective questions exhaustively, which were raised by the candidates, and the results were declared after posting the final answer keys on its website (model answers).

Candidates will have to key in their registration number or roll number and date of birth to login and download the WBTET result 2023 PDF.

A senior official of the WBBPE said: "We will analyse the reasons behind the less than 3 per cent candidates qualifying in the TET and share with you our findings later on after the Pujas.”

Meanwhile, a huge clash broke out between the 2022 TET candidates and the police after the former put up a roadblock on Jessore Road demanding immediate release of appointment letters.
