Harvard University
Founded in 1636, it stands as America's oldest university with a commanding endowment of $50.7 billion, supporting 23,000 students of whom 7,178 are undergraduates.
The university played a crucial role during the American Revolution in teaching leaders who helped free the nation. Its $6.1 billion annual income and $5.9 billion expenses in 2023 rival India’s entire national education budgets. Spanning 5,457 acres, Harvard University houses the world's largest academic library system.
University of Texas System
Established in 1839, it wields a $42.7 billion endowment serving 2,50,000 students. A pivotal 1923 oil discovery on the university lands transformed its financial destiny, with the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) now managing mineral rights across 2.1 million acres.
Yale University
It was established in 1701 and maintains a $40.7 billion endowment with 13,500 students. Historic for awarding America's first PhD in 1869, it now generates $1.71 billion from medical services alone.

Stanford University

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
It dates back to 1861. It commands a $23.5 billion endowment with 11,500 students. Pioneering breakthroughs in nuclear physics and artificial intelligence, MIT is home to innovation in computing and robotics.
University of Pennsylvania
It was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1740. It manages a $21 billion endowment for its 28,700 students, excelling in medicine and business education.
Texas A&M System
Established in 1948, it leverages a $20 billion endowment serving 1,52,000 students. The university focuses on agricultural and mechanical programmes.
University of Michigan
Established in 1817, the university operates with a $17.9 billion endowment, educating over 65,000 students with significant investment in Michigan Medicine.
University of California System
Established in 1869, it oversees a $29.5 billion endowment across 10 campuses in the state, serving 295,000 students. The university is known for social movements like the Free Speech Movement at UC Berkeley.
University of Oxford
Founded in 1096, it holds a £7.7 billion endowment supporting 22,700 students through its decentralised college system. With a rich academic history, the university comprises individual colleges as major learning centres.
University of Cambridge
Founded in 1209, it maintains a £4.09 billion endowment educating 24,500 students. It claims luminaries like Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin among its alumni and influenced the practice of both science and politics.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)
Founded in 2009 and occupying a vast 36 million square metre campus, this relatively new institution commands a $20 billion endowment. KAUST is a research-based university with an interest in sustainability challenges working towards the fulfilment of Saudi Vision 2030.
National University of Singapore (NUS)
Founded in 1905, the university operates with a $5.9 billion endowment, serving 38,000 students. It drives Singapore's knowledge economy vision and has a vast global research impact.
