The Bar Council of India (BCI) has extended the last date to fill the All India Bar Examination XX (AIBE 20) registration form to October 31. Law graduates from BCI-recognised universities or approved colleges will be eligible to apply for the AIBE 20 exam, scheduled for November 30.

The AIBE 20 registration last date was October 28, however, it has been extended by three days following multiple representations from aspirants about technical difficulties, which prevented them from completing the application process.

“I have been trying since last 24 hours to fill the AIBE form. Website is not working. Not able to fill the grievance form. Help Desk is not helping. Not even picking up calls,” Rashi Agarwal wrote on X.

The BCI’s decision to extend the registration deadline comes after the National Law Universities Students’ Association (NLUSA) urged the council to expand the eligibility criteria to include all final-year law students.

Students pointed out that several colleges follow the trimester system instead of the usual semester system, creating confusion among aspirants regarding their eligibility. In these colleges, the 14th trimester of the 5 year LLB and 8th trimester of the 3-year LLB are considered as the second-last semester, even though they are in the final year.

Some colleges have conducted the 9th semester exams, but the results will be declared after the initial deadline set by the BCI, they noted.

As per the eligibility criteria for AIBE 20, only LLB students in 3 year or 5 year programme, who have graduated from BCI-recognised universities or colleges, and who are in their final year or final semester without any backlogs, are eligible to apply for the AIBE exam.

BCI AIBE 20 revised dates

As per the revised schedule, the online payment facility and correction window will close on November 1. The AIBE 20 admit card download link will be hosted on the official website, allindiabarexamination.com, on November 15.

The AIBE 20 exam will be conducted on November 30 in a single shift from 1 pm to 4 pm. The entry gates at the exam centre will open at 11.30 am.
