BHU, IIT-BHU collaborate to share lab, library, enhance research
The partnership allows BHU faculty to access both print and digital resources at IIT-BHU's Shreenivas Deshpande Library.

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the Indian Institute of Technology-BHU (IIT-BHU) have collaborated to improve research quality and promote collaborative research. BHU and IIT BHU have signed three agreement to enable the sharing of laboratory, library resources and to advance joint research initiatives.
The agreement were signed by BHU registrar Arun Kumar Singh, and IIT-BHU registrar Rajan Srivastava, at Swatantrata Bhawan, as vice-chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain and director, IIT-BHU, Amit Patra exchanged the agreements.
Sharing of laboratory facilities
The partnership on laboratory facilities and major research equipment will grant faculty, research scholars, and students access to advanced facilities that may not be available at their respective institutions. The official press release read, “BHU offers advanced laboratories for research in sciences, medical sciences, environmental sciences, and agricultural sciences. Conversely, IIT-BHU boasts state-of-the-art facilities in technology, engineering, and sciences.”
Sharing of library resources
The institutions have also agreed to share their library resources, granting BHU faculty and research scholars access to both print and digital materials at IIT-BHU's Shreenivas Deshpande Library. In return, IIT-BHU members will gain access to the vast resources of BHU's Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Library. As per the BHU official press release, this partnership aims to enhance teaching, learning, and research, while also providing opportunities for staff training in emerging library technologies.

Collaborative research
The third agreement between the two institutions focuses on enhancing collaborative research in shared areas of interest. As per BHU, this agreement aims to encourage joint project proposals for funding from different agencies and allows faculty members to act as co-guides for PhD students at the partner institution. It also provides PhD students with new research opportunities, enabling them to conduct short-term research (up to 6 months) at the partner institution. The areas of cooperation cover a wide range of disciplines, including science, engineering, arts, medicine, agriculture, humanities, and interdisciplinary fields.
