Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will conduct the mop-up round allotment for postgraduate admissions 2025-26 from September 6 to fill vacant seats. The BHU PG mop-up round will be conducted offline, with candidates required to submit documents and a demand draft as part of the process.

Candidates who are registered for BHU PG admissions 2025-26 but do not hold any admission seat from the regular or spot rounds will be eligible. This includes those who cancelled or withdrew their seat, those who did not complete fee payment, and waitlisted candidates.

The university states that the mop-up round will be different from the spot round admission. As per the official schedule, the withdrawal option for candidates will be disabled from September 2 till the completion of the mop-up process to determine the final number of vacancies.

“Mop-Up round shall be applicable for all PG courses, including GDPI/Practical Test/Physical Test-based courses, provided that the candidate has appeared in the respective GDPI/Practical Test/Physical Test and qualified,” the official notification said.

BHU PG Mop-Up Round 2025: No option for upgradation

The university will conduct only one round of BHU PG mop-up allotment, and no upgradation option will be available. Candidates will have to report in person to their respective department or centre on September 6 between 10 am and 4 pm with the filled mop-up application form, BHU PG registration form (Samarth portal), and relevant documents.

Candidates are also required to submit a demand draft of Rs 2,000 in favour of "The Registrar, Banaras Hindu University," payable at Varanasi. As per the institute, the DD will be returned if a candidate is allotted a seat and pays the course fee or if no seat is allotted.

However, it will be forfeited if a seat is allotted and the fee is not paid. BHU PG mop-up round seat allotment will be based on merit among eligible candidates reporting in person with documents and a DD. The merit list for the mop-up round will be independent of the regular and spot round merit lists.
