NEW DELHI: The University of Birmingham Dubai invites applications from Indian students for their LLM Energy and Environmental Law programme. The curriculum has been developed to offer the necessary tools to confront global energy challenges and the requirements of climate change law. Applications have been invited for the September 2024 session and there is no registration fee.
“The programme is an innovative and challenging, research-driven education designed to actively engage students in seminars and discussions, fostering the contribution of original ideas,” the official statement read.
The objective of the course is to develop students' skills in research, legal analysis, and presenting solutions to practical legal problems. “Each module has been framed by esteemed academics with the future lawyer in mind, and provides a solid foundation in common law, and international commercial legal issues,” it said.
“Students will be taught by experts, including key legal text authors with extensive international practice experience. This education cultivates significant technical expertise and an international perspective, greatly enhancing career prospects,” it informed.

Each module will have over 10 teaching weeks per semester, which will follow a structured timetable. In semesters 1 and 2, students will complete three modules each, while the summer term is dedicated to their dissertation projects.
“Semester 2 also offers the flexibility of block teaching for one or two modules, delivered intensively over three weekends, with sessions spanning four hours on Saturdays for three weeks and four hours on Sundays for two weeks for example,” the university said.
As per the eligibility criteria, international qualifications which are equivalent to a UK honours degree in Law will be considered. Foreign students should have obtained an IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
The annual tuition fee 2024 entry is AED 114,250 (approximately US Dollars 31,000) per year of study. The tuition fees can also be paid in installements.
