Subscribe NowNEW DELHI: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will start the application process for headmaster and head teacher vacancies in the state from March 11. Along with the BPSC notification for the recruitment process, the commission has also published the syllabus for both the posts.
The commission has announced to fill a total of 6,061 head masters posts and give appointments for 40,247 posts of head teachers in primary schools under the education department, Bihar, through the recruitment process. The recruitment for head master posts will be done for both the Bihar education department and SC and ST Welfare Department.
As per the schedule announced, the last date to submit the BPSC headmaster, teacher application form at bpsc.bih.nic.in is April 2.
BPSC Principal Recruitment: Eligibility
The number of vacancies advertised may increase or decrease, the BPSC informed. The basic salary will be Rs 35,000 and permissible allowance payable by the state government.
Candidates should be a citizen of India and a resident of Bihar. Should have passed postgraduation with at least 50% marks from a recognized university. Five percent relaxation will be given in the minimum passing marks for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Extremely Backward Class, Backward Class, PwD, women and Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
The provision of passing teacher eligibility test will not be applicable for those working in schools affiliated to different boards like Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), The Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE), Bihar School Education Board (BSEB).
“The Fazil degree awarded by Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Patna, Bihar State Madrasa Education Board and the degree of Acharya awarded by Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University will be considered equivalent to postgraduate,” it said.

BPSC Head Teacher: Eligibility
All trained elementary teachers, as defined in Rule 2 (ix) of Bihar Primary School Head Teacher Rules, 2024, who have been employed by the local bodies and who are covered by the concerned Local Body Teacher Rules, 2020.
This also includes those teachers who are appointed under Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023 and Bihar School Special Teacher Rules, 2023.
Teachers who fulfil the eligibility criteria will be able to apply provided they have a minimum 8 years of teaching experience in government primary schools and are 58 years of age or less as on August 1, 2024.
