Delhi government orders audit of schools after CM finds gaps during surprise check

Delhi Government Schools : The Delhi government has decided to conduct structural audits of all government schools after chief minister Rekha Gupta detected a lack of facilities at Rajkiya Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Rup Nagar, (North Delhi), in a surprise check.

Delhi CM interacted with students regarding drinking water facilities, fire safety, sanitation, heat-related relief measures, and educational arrangements.

Gupta further added that all officials have been given instructions to provide the required facilities in all schools, and a detailed list of necessary improvement works has been sought from the school administration.

"The officials have received clear instructions that no negligence will be tolerated regarding students' safety and basic facilities," she posted on X after visiting the school.

Delhi CM plans for school improvement

According to the PTI reports, Gupta has directed authorities to submit a list of necessary improvements, such as basic facilities, including infrastructure, and educational arrangements.

CM noted that all government schools in Delhi have been facing mismanagement, dilapidated infrastructure, and gaps in basic facilities.

The current Delhi government has been working continuously on a war footing for the last year to strengthen basic facilities, better infrastructure, and ensure a safe and improved environment for students in all schools, the CM highlighted.

Earlier, Gupta warned private schools , saying that no school can force parents to purchase uniforms, books, or stationery from a designated school-linked shop or a single approved vendor.

CM also said that she can walk into any private school for inspection at any time, and any violation found during inspection will attract the "toughest action available under law.”
