Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan distributed appointment letters to 204 newly appointed youths at the 16th Rozgar Mela. The event was organised in 47 locations across the country, including seven in Odisha. Prime minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rozgar Mela via video conference today.
More than 51,000 youths were given appointment letters during the event. Odisha organised Nijukti Melas, providing 25,000 to 30,000 jobs within a year, drawing inspiration from the Central initiative.
According to the official PIB statement, the PM has already facilitated the recruitment of over 10 lakh youth into various government departments across the country and affirmed the government’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and youth empowerment.
Notably, the education minister shared that India has become the world’s 4th largest economy, surpassing Japan. He further said that respectable employment, including government jobs, is a key aspiration for the country’s youth.

Pradhan also urged the youths to rest on their laurels and encouraged them to work hard for more achievements. He further stresses the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and platforms like ChatGPT for career growth and skill development.
“Pradhan further highlighted the emergence of India’s robust startup ecosystem, which has grown significantly in the past decade. He informed that over 25 crore people have come out of BPL (Below Poverty Line) status in the last ten years,” the official PIB statement said.
“107 appointment letters were handed over physically & 239 more were shared via email, thanks to the dedicated Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway. RozgarMela isn’t just recruitment, it’s nation-building. To all the new recruits: step forward with pride. Your journey is vital to building a #ViksitBharat,” Kiren Rijiju, union minister for parliamentary affairs and minority affairs, posted on official X account.
The event was attended by several officials, including Parameshwar Funkwal the general manager, East Coast Railway; LVSS Patrudu the principal chief personnel officer, East Coast Railway; Ashutosh Biswas the executive director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar; Nirmaljit Singh the chief postmaster general, Odisha Circle, and others.
