Check NowIn a revision of dates, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 registration will now commence from tomorrow, August 28. Eligible candidates will be able to fill the GATE application form 2026 on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The last date to apply for GATE exam 2026 without a late fee is September 26, 2025.

GATE 2026 exam date is February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The test will be administered in two sessions -- the forenoon session will take place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The exam will be conducted for 30 test papers for admissions to postgraduate programmes.
During the GATE 2026 registration process, applicants will be required to fill the form, upload documents, select test papers from the two-paper combinations and exam cities, and pay the registration fee. In order to register, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories will have to pay the application fee of Rs 1,000. For all other candidates including the foreign nationals, the registration fee is Rs 2,000.
This year, the institute has introduced a new sectional paper – energy science - under the engineering sciences subject in the GATE exam 2026.
