The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is likely to open the choice filling facility for ICAR UG counselling 2025 on October 6 or 7, the Indian Express quoted director general for education Joykrushna Jena as saying. After much delay, the registration for ICAR UG counselling began in September, however, the council faced backlash for omitting the agriculture stream from the brochure.

Recently, the council published the revised ICAR UG counselling brochure, after adding the Agriculture-Biology-Chemistry (ABC) stream as a valid subject combination for BSc Agriculture and allied subjects.

The brochure was revised after students and political leaders criticised the exclusion of the ABC stream, making inter-agriculture students ineligible as physics was not part of the agriculture stream in higher secondary level.

The admission process was already delayed due to a lag in sharing the result data of the entrance exam by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Although the registration began in the first week of September, the choice filling has not started yet.

“We are keeping Monday as the target to begin the counselling process. If not on October 6, then definitely by Tuesday, October 7,” the report quoted the official as saying.

ICAR UG counselling 2025 will be held in four rounds to fill more than 5,000 seats in 74 agricultural universities . Participants should note that they will not be allotted any college, but a university. The allotment to specific constituent colleges will be made by the respective allotted universities.
