ICSSR, GDN invite Indian research teams to lead DRA assessments; application details

NEW DELHI: The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) in collaboration with the Global Development Network (GDN) is inviting applications from research teams based in India to act as Doing Research (DR) national coordinators interested in leading Doing Research Assessments (DRA) in India starting from October 2024.

The DRA is expected to be finished by late 2025, with the results presented at the annual AASSREC meeting. A grant of up to Rs 45 lakhs will be provided for conducting a DRA in India for 15 months, with technical help and guidance from GDN’s global Doing Research team.

Key responsibilities of teams

The selected research teams will act as national coordinators under the Doing Research program, tasked with adapting the DRA methodology to suit the local context. Their responsibilities will encompass three main phases over the 15-month period:

Adaptation phase:

  • Reviewing the Doing Research methodology and contextual literature.
  • Conducting a kick-off meeting with GDN to finalize methodologies.

Data collection and analysis:

  • Adapting the DRA methodology to local context.
  • Collecting primary and secondary data through surveys, interviews, and literature reviews.
  • Analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data to assess the national research system's performance.

Dissemination phase:

  • Proactively engaging in both physical and online events to share findings.
  • Creating dissemination materials such as videos, infographics, and briefing notes.
  • Organizing a national dissemination event to engage with key stakeholders.

Application details

Interested research teams from India are invited to apply through their respective research institutes or centers. Applications must be submitted in English and should include:

  • An expression of interest following the provided template.
  • A letter of support from the head of the applicant institute.
  • CVs of all team members showcasing relevant experience in social science research, data collection, and stakeholder engagement.
