IIT-BHU alumnus Ajay Kapoor appointed Somaiya Vidyavihar University vice-chancellor

Somaiya's new chancellor has a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is known globally for contributions in engineering and higher education.
The Somaiya Vidyavihar University has appointed Ajay Kapoor as vice-chancellor. Kapoor is an IIT-BHU alumnus with a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is globally known as an academic leader and researcher for his contributions in engineering, higher education management, and institutional transformation.
According to the official Somaiya press release, Kapoor is an author of more than 325 research papers, three books, and several patents; He is ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide (Stanford–Elsevier) and in the top 0.21% globally (AD Scientific Index).
Also, his award-winning research has had a significant international impact. Kapoor continues to serve on the editorial board of the IMechE Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit.
Kapoor had previously served as vice chancellor of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, pro vice-chancellor at Swinburne University of Technology Australia, and in senior academic positions at Newcastle, Sheffield, and Leicester Universities in the United Kingdom.
Somaiya’s new vice-chancellor
According to the official Somaiya’s press release, Kapoor is recognised globally for his research and leadership. He has twice received the Sir George Julius Award and the TA Stewart-Dyer–FH Trevethick Award from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, UK, for contributions to mechanical engineering.
Kappor had also played a key role in advancing international partnerships, industry partnerships, and innovation-led learning.
