IIT Kharagpur Placements 2024-25: Over 750 offers on day 1; highest package at Rs 2.14 crore
IIT Placements 2024-25: 13 students have received compensation packages exceeding Rs 1 crore by day 2 of IIT Kharagpur placement session.

NEW DELHI: The phase 1 of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur placement drive commenced on December 1 with the full participation of the graduating batch of 2024-25 at the Nalanda Complex. IIT Kharagpur has received over 800 offers (including pre-placement offers) as on day 2 of the placement session. A majority of the companies have offered roles in areas such as software, analytics, finance, banking, consulting, and core engineering.
Notably, students have secured 13 international offers as of 6 pm on day 2 of IIT Kharagpur placement session 2024-25. 9 students have received compensation packages exceeding Rs 1 crore. Highest package received so far stood at 2.14 crore.
Apple, Capital One, DE Shaw, Glean, Google, Graviton, Microsoft, Optiver, Quantbox, Databricks, Squarepoint Capital, Ebullient Securities, Samsara among others participated in day 1 of IIT Kharagpur placement session. As per the official press release, companies such as Capital One, Microsoft, Qualcomm, American Express, Flipkart, Meesho, Mastercard have given significantly large number of offers to students.
750 placement offers on day 1
VK Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur said, “Even when the current placement season is slow, IIT Kharagpur stands tall with more than 750 offers on the first day of placement period, is itself a manifestation of the testimony for preparing leaders who will contribute to the nation building. The influx of companies in this competitive job market upholds the academic legacy of the first IIT in the world. This year’s placements further emphasize the quality of our education, the relentless hard work of our students, and the trust that leading organizations have in our institution. We look forward to a successful continuation of the placement process in the upcoming phases."

The energy and enthusiasm among the students is exceptionally high, and companies are showing great interest in tapping into the Institute’s talented pool. The strong participation and the positive energy among both students and companies are encouraging signs for the season ahead, he added.
Rajib Maity, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre (CDC) at IIT Kharagpur, said,“Collaborating with a diverse range of companies through targeted outreach has been essential in navigating the evolving market and maintaining excellence in the placement process.”
IIT Kharagpur Placement 2024-25: Diverse range of roles offered
Many leading companies that visited the campus for Internships in July 2024 have registered for the placement process as well. Interviews are being conducted in hybrid mode, with a significant of companies participating in person.
The recruitment drive has attracted a wide variety of companies, offering roles in multiple sectors. The majority of the positions offered are in high-demand fields, such as:
- Software development
- Analytics
- Finance and banking
- Consulting
- Core engineering (including roles in mechanical, electrical, civil, and computer science engineering)
This year also CDC organised Academia-Industry Conclave (AIC 2024), a concept conceived by Rajib Maity. “The aim of the conclave is to foster industry collaboration by bringing together academic units of IIT Kharagpur (departments, centres, and schools) and recruiters. It will facilitate knowledge exchange, identified emerging trends, and strengthened our institute's position as a leading provider of engineering and technology talent,” Maity added.
