The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IITM) has launched a Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) for STEM training. The centre will provide free training in physics, chemistry, mathematics and biotechnology to college faculty engaged in teaching science courses.

The capacity building programme in Science, Technology , Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) will focus on teaching methodologies and “holistic faculty development” through practical lab sessions. The programme aims to support the development of an “inquiry-based” STEM curriculum in India.

The free STEM training programme at IITM will incorporate an interdisciplinary approach, skill development, research, innovation, global competitiveness and experiential learning, per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
