Download EBookNEW DELHI: The UGC has given students in India the liberty to choose two degree programmes simultaneously after Class 12. In this regard, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have also started offering BTec-MTech dual-degrees since last year. To pursue BTech dual-degree programmes at IITs, aspirants will have to qualify both Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2024) and JEE Advanced 2024 and participate in the JoSAA counselling process.

As per the admission criteria, the top 2,50,000 JEE Main rank holders 2024 will be considered eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. All the 23 IITs will be offering admission to BTech, integrated MTech, integrated MSc, BTech-MTech dual degree in engineering, sciences, or architecture based on the JEE Advanced score and fulfilling eligibility criteria.
“In some of the IITs, students enrolled into the 4-year bachelors program have the option to pursue BTech (Honors) and/or BTech. with Minors. Dual Degree students may also pursue a Minor. Further, in some IITs, BTech. students also have the option to pursue Interdisciplinary Dual Degree, with Bachelors in the parent Department and Masters in some other Department,” IIT Madras said.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the dual-degree guidelines to provide more flexibility during higher education in 2022. Along with provision to allow students to pursue two courses simultaneously, the statutory body also introduced multiple-entry and multiple exit in line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
As per the latest updates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the JEE Main 2024 session 1 results for 55,493 students who appeared in BArch and BPlanning soon. Meanwhile, the JEE Mains 2024 registration window for session 2 is still active and the last date to submit the application form is March 2.
