JEE Main 2026: IIT Delhi closing ranks for top BTech courses under open category

A total of 79 seats were offered for the 4-year BTech CSE programme, with 20 reserved for female candidates. The 5-year BTech CSE programme had 29 seats in total, and 8 were reserved for females.
For the EE programme, 88 seats were available under the gender-neutral category, while 22 seats were for female candidates.
According to the IIT Kanpur’s Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) Report 2025, the first most opted course was Computer Science Engineering (CSE), and the second choice was EE.
A total of 27,697 students opted for CSE, and 23,503 chose EE. The least opted programme was BTech in design , with only 3,173 candidates choosing it.
IIT Bombay’s CSE closing rank dropped by two points from 68 to 66, showing an increase in cutoffs as compared to last year. The institute offered 159 seats under the gender-neutral category and 39 supernumerary seats exclusively for female candidates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 registration process for the session 1 exam on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The testing agency will hold JEE Main 2026 session 1 from January 21 to 30 and session 2 from April 2 to 9. NTA has also increased the number of JEE cities from 284 to 323 this year.
