NTA will issue the JEE Main 2026 information bulletin containing the JEE Mains 2026 exam date along with the detailed application process, exam pattern, syllabus, application fee, eligibility, marking scheme, and more.
Notably, the testing agency has directed all the candidates to update their Aadhaar Card , UDID card, and category certificate in advance to avoid grievances or application rejection. The JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted in two sessions. The first session will take place in January 2026, and session 2 in April 2026.
JEE exams 2025 will be held for admissions to engineering and architecture programmes in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating institutes. Those who qualify for the JEE Mains can appear for the JEE Advanced 2026 for IIT admissions.
JEE Main 2026 application fee
For JEE Main 2026, male candidates from the general category are required to pay an application fee of Rs 1,000, while female candidates need to pay Rs 800. For Gen-EWS category applicants, the fee is Rs 900 for males and Rs 800 for females.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and PwD categories must pay Rs 500 to apply for the engineering entrance exam.
JEE Main 2026 paper 1, 2
JEE Main 2026 paper 1, for BE and BTech courses, will consist of three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Paper 2 is designed for students applying to BArch and BPlanning programmes. It includes Mathematics, an Aptitude Test, and a third section that varies based on the course selected (paper 2A for BArch and paper 2B for BPlanning).

JEE Main 2026 Registration: List of qualifying exams
The list of qualifying exams for JEE Mains exam are as follows:
- Class 12 final examination conducted by any recognized central or state board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate (CISCE) etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University (PU) exam conducted by a recognized board or university.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the joint services wing of the National Defense Academy (NDA)
- Senior Secondary school examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any public school/board/university examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

- General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School certificate examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 examination.
- In case the Class 12 exam is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

Eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2026
Students who have passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or are appearing in 2026, are eligible to apply. Physics and Mathematics are mandatory subjects, while candidates should also have studied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a Technical/Vocational subject. There is no requirement for minimum marks or age for eligibility.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) activated the JEE Main 2026 registration demo link. Engineering aspirants can explore the registration process in advance on demo.nta.nic.in to familiarise themselves with the steps before the official application opens.
